Maker Kollel is in session!!!
The Maker Kollel has long been at the center of our dreams for Atiq, but it has waited patiently to come into reality…until now! At the center of our community based maker workshops and experiences is this cohort of artist/scholar/educators. Fellows are with us in the studio working (part-time) over the course of three months as a cohort to deepen a familiarity with our Atiq method of integrated learning and making, and producing unique personally and communally relevant sacred material culture.
We’re working with the Kabbalistic concept of 10 Sefirot (sometimes translated as Divine emanations) as a map of the creative process. We began with Keter - the will to have a will, the desire to create a something. On to Chochma - the spark of inspiration before full articulation; an alphabet soup of possibility. Then Binah - the idea beginning to come into articulation; gestation of the idea. This week we arrived at Chesed - Love; a sense of excitement and passion for your project is in some sense boundless.
Each fellow is creating a unique sacred object or experience - an heirloom for this and future generations - while becoming rooted in the wisdom of Hassidut (re: the connection between physical and spiritual realms) and various Arts lineages. ...
